Playlist: Mars in Cancer

I recently came across an Instagram post where they recommended that if you're trying to reconnect to yourself you need to listen to music by artists whose sun signs align with your Mars sign. I've been bored with my Spotify Daily Mixes and it's the New Year. So this was the divine voice I needed to inspire me to dive deeper into my own astrological connections and curate a Spotify playlist based on the stars.

In astrology, Mars is associated with action, conflict, the sex drive, and assertiveness. It's also how we get things done or go after what we desire. For those of us with our Mars in Cancer, we are a sensitive bunch motivated by our feelings. Slow to anger, but moody when there is conflict.

As I was curating my playlist with artist born under the Cancer sun sign (June 21 to July 22), I was surprised to find that many of my favorite artists fit this recommendation perfectly! This included artists that I've literally loved since my teens and even the music I would listen in the backseat of my parents car. There were times that I exclusively listened to H.E.R., Al Green and Jeremih for days. Whether you believe in astrology or not, there's always a comforting feeling that comes with random occurrences having a common thread. It felt like discovering a hidden layer of connection between my personal tastes and the destiny of cosmic energies.
